Map of My Best Brunch Spots in St. Louis

Best overall brunch: SqWires

Situated in the historic Lafayette Square neighborhood, SqWires boasts an eclectic atmosphere in a refurbished Victorian factory building. With leather seating, a steel fireplace, exposed brick, and oil paintings hung throughout the space, this restaurant feels upscale, yet urban and trendy. I particularly love sitting out on their flower-lined patio, but it consistently has a three-hour wait, so make sure to make a reservation!

Everything SqWires serves is fantastic, ranging from breakfast, lunch, dinner, or happy hour. The brunch menu features bottomless mimosas, bloody marys, brioche french toast, smoked brisket hash, loaded tots, and much more.

  • Address: 415 S 18th St, St. Louis, MO 63104
  • Website: SqWires

Best crepes: City Coffeehouse & Creperie

City Coffeehouse and Creperie is not only one of my favorite brunch spots, it’s one of my favorite places in general. With incredible sweet and savory crepes, fantastic coffee, and an all-glass streetside dining room, this spot makes me feel like I’m having brunch in Paris.

I’m easy to please, so I really love their strawberry, banana, and Nutella crepe, but other menu highlights include the mascarpone and lemon blueberry crepe and the Mont Blanc crepe, with grilled chicken, mushrooms, mozzarella, and red onion. This place doesn’t take reservations, and it can get busy on the weekends, so try to get here early!

Most unique brunch items: Kingside Diner

Located right down the street from City Coffeehouse and Creperie, I went to Kingside Diner one morning when the wait at the creperie was too long, and it exceeded my expectations! In fact, I’ve been back several times since then because everything on the menu is just so good.

This diner has several lattes on the menu, and my favorite is the Monkey Love, made with chocolate, banana, and peanut butter. In terms of food, their huevos rancheros are some of the best I’ve ever had, while my husband really loves the Damn Delicious, which includes two eggs and bacon on a croissant, topped with sausage gravy, cheese, and chives, and served with hashbrowns.

  • Address 1: 236 N Euclid Ave, St. Louis, MO 63108
  • Address 2: 8025 Bonhomme Ave, Clayton, MO 63105

Most popular brunch spot in St. Louis: Rooster

Anytime I go to Rooster for brunch, it’s always slammed, and for good reason. This European-style brunch cafe has fantastic local coffee, egg scrambles, sweet and savory crepes, and sandwiches. You can also order lattes and brunch co*cktails to help wash down all of that deliciousness.

The interior is bright, airy, and modern, and they also have an outdoor patio for pleasant mornings. For excellent food, service, and atmosphere, Rooster will not disappoint!

  • Address 1: 3150 S Grand Blvd, St. Louis, MO 63118
  • Address 2: 1025 Washington Ave, St. Louis, MO 63101
  • Website: Rooster

Best patio brunch: Billy G’s

Billy G’s is one of my all-time favorite restaurants in St. Louis. Not only is the food incredible, but the massive patio is probably one of the best in the metro area. With lush landscaping, space heaters, and string lights, you’ll want to stay here all morning.

This restaurant has bottomless coffee drinks, mimosas, and bloody marys during brunch, so come thirsty!

  • Address: 131 W Argonne Dr, Kirkwood, MO 63122
  • Website: Billy G’s

Best breakfast sandwich: Russell’s on Macklind

For weekend brunch, Russell’s almost offers too much to choose from- a good problem to have if you ask me! This restaurant uses farm-to-table ingredients and is known for its outstanding bakery items, like homemade cinnamon rolls, biscuits, and croissants.

The brunch menu is very sandwich-heavy, offering different breakfast sandwiches, cold cuts, grilled sandwiches, and burgers. Russell’s breakfast burrito is a local favorite, made with eggs, braised pork shoulder, sharp white cheddar, pickled green chiles, and homemade chipotle aioli.

  • Address: 5400 Murdoch Ave, St. Louis, MO 63109
  • Website: Russell’s

Best underrated brunch spot: Deer Creek Coffee

Deer Creek Coffee is my go-to spot for Sunday brunch whenever I want great food with no wait. I’ve tried a lot of their menu, from their breakfast sandwiches and crepes to smoothies and lattes, and everything has been excellent.

A few of my favorites include the sausage, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich and the strawberry and Nutella crepe. Their mint mocha is also delicious- it’s not too sweet, and the espresso is super smooth!

  • Address: 12 The Blvd Saint Louis St, Richmond Heights, MO 63117
  • Website: Deer Creek Coffee

Best gluten-free brunch in St. Louis: The Shack

I have quite a few gluten-free people in my life, and The Shack easily has the best gluten-free brunch menu I have ever seen. When the owner’s daughter was diagnosed with celiac disease, he decided to craft a diverse and delicious gluten-free menu. Gluten intolerances aside, you wouldn’t know that many of their menu items are made without gluten!

The regular menu features every kind of brunch food imaginable, from omelets and scrambles to pancakes and Belgium waffles, while the gluten-free menu offers different pancake flavors, egg entrees, hashbrowns, and smoothies. To wash everything down, order one of their mimosas, bloody marys, cereal shakes, smoothies, or flavored iced coffees.

  • Address: 13645 Big Bend Rd Suite 105, St. Louis, MO 63122
  • Website: The Shack

Best brunch atmosphere: Polite Society

Polite Society has a trendy and cozy vibe, with lots of exposed brick, a stylish bar area, bookshelves, warm lighting, and high ceilings. The brunch menu is outstanding, especially the french toast, eggs benedict, and shrimp and grits. These portions are huge, so you might be full until dinner!

This place always has a long wait, so don’t forget to make a reservation.

Best sustainable brunch: Big Sky Cafe

Almost 100% of Big Sky Cafe’s beef, chicken, and eggs are sourced from local farms, so the food here is as fresh as possible. Every egg used is cage-free, the bread is sourced from a local bakery, and all the seafood is entirely sustainable. In June of 2018, Big Sky Cafe received a five-star rating from the Green Dining Alliance, which means that they are committed to offering sustainable ingredients that benefit the community.

Not only is this brunch local and eco-friendly, but it’s super delicious as well. I really like the lemon ricotta blueberry pancakes and the french toast bread pudding, but everything I have tried here has been great!
