  • Jurassic World Rebirth is Set Five Years After Jurassic World Dominion

  • The Director Was Revealed in February

The Jurassic Park franchise has gained generations of fans since the original movie Jurassic Park was released in 1993. 31 years later, and dinosaurs are still very much an intriguing premise, with a new addition to the series in the works, titled Jurassic World Rebirth. The first movie was based on a 1990 novel of the same name, written by Michael Crichton. Making it as a bestseller, the book received critical acclaim and caught the attention of Steven Spielberg. Three years later, the first installment of the first cinematic trilogy came out. Jurassic Park was a smash hit and remains Spielberg's highest-grossing movie to date. He went on to direct the next movie in the trilogy, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, but it didn't manage to match the success of its predecessor. The first trilogy ended with Jurassic Park III before the start of the second trilogy arrived in 2015 with Jurassic World. Much like Spielberg's two movies, the first was a success but was followed by low ratings for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Unfortunately, Jurassic World Dominion was unable to pull the trilogy back to higher standards, receiving the lowest score of both trilogies on Rotten Tomatoes, at 29%.

Jurassic World Dominion seemingly gave closure to the second trilogy and tied together the whole franchise. However, without a positive reception, it's a shame to leave the overarching concept on a sour note. Hopefully, all that will change with a soft reboot that will lift the narrative to the heights of the previous triumphant movies. With producer Frank Marshall confirming that filming has now wrapped, fans are in the run-up to the release of Jurassic World Rebirth. Now that the movie is in post-production, viewers can get ready for a new cast and a new concept, amid other details that have been disclosed about Jurassic World Rebirth.

Jurassic World Rebirth is Set Five Years After Jurassic World Dominion

Everything We Know About Jurassic World Rebirth (3)

With so much buzz around what might be coming next, the big question is how the film's plot is going to play out and what the connection will be to those who came before. The Universal Pictures Website states: "Five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion, the planet’s ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs. Those remaining exist in isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling the one in which they once thrived. The three most colossal creatures within that tropical biosphere hold the key to a drug that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind." The movie appears to be taking a different direction that still keeps within reaching distance of the first trilogy but rejuvenates the franchise. As Jeff Goldblum said in reference to Jurassic World Dominion, "It's tough to make a good movie." Evidently so much can take one movie down the wrong path to not get the reception that was hoped for. However, a fresh take might be exactly what's needed to bring the iconic film-series back to the forefront of the sci-fi genre.

It's tough to make a good movie.

This Jurassic Park Creature Deserves A Redemption On Jurassic World 4

Jurassic World 4 has the opportunity to redeem one of the most disdained dinosaurs.

Coming back to provide his expertise on set is paleontologist Stephen Brusatte. He also worked on Jurassic World Dominion, ensuring accuracy and credibility ran through the fabric of the film. Another exciting return is from David Koepp, who has penned the screenplay for the upcoming movie. Koepp wrote both scripts for Jurassic Park and The Lost World: Jurassic Park. Koepp has been the writer for many big movies, including Spider-Man, War of the Worlds and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. To have someone so experienced and with the added bonus of being part of the franchise earlier on is surely a great move. As reported in Yahoo! Movies, the filming took place in a few different locations. It began in Thailand in June of this year followed by moving to Malta until September. Filming ended at Sky Studios Elstree in England. There's no trailer as yet, except an image and details put out by Universal, but considering the movie has wrapped, hopefully, a full trailer will be coming along soon.

Jurassic World Rebirth Has a Completely New Cast

In keeping with refreshing the franchise, Jurassic World Rebirth will be seeing in an all-new cast. The last lead actors, Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, won't be reprising their roles. It also appears that fan favorites, Jeff Goldblum, Sam Neill and Laura Dern, aren't going to be making any surprise cameos, despite showing up in the second trilogy. While it's a shame to not have them back, it's exciting to watch new actors contributing to the movie. First up is the uber-talented Scarlett Johansson, who will be playing Zora Bennett, a covert operation expert who will be leading her team to get genetic material from the dinosaurs. Johansson is best known for her role as Black Widow in the Marvel franchise, first performing the part in 2010 in Iron Man 2. She's also branched out with a voice-over role in the live-action The Jungle Book, playing the snake Kaa, among various other roles that demonstrate her wide range of acting. Joining her will be Mahershala Ali as Duncan Kincaid. Duncan is a trusted friend and co-worker of Zora. Ali played Boggs in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2, followed later by Greenbook, in which he played Dr. Don Shirley and won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.

A combination of well-known stars and fresh faces is yet another exciting element.

Why Jurassic Park's Dinosaurs Are Terrifying

The Jurassic Park series has brought some terrifying dinosaurs to life on the big screen, but audiences’ fear of them evokes something more primal.

Jonathan Bailey is taking up a spot in the movie as Dr. Henry Loomis, a paleontologist. Bailey is most famous for portraying Lord Anthony Bridgerton in the Bridgerton series, along with parts in Broadchurch, Chewing Gum and Doctor Who. Rupert Friend is lined up to play the representative of a pharmaceutical company, Martin Krebs. Friend will be familiar to fans of the TV series Homeland, while his film credits include Pride and Prejudice and 2018's A Simple Favor, starring Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick. Playing Reuben Delgado is Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, who is the actor that portrays Mickey Haller in The Lincoln Lawyer and had a recurring role as Narciso Menendez in From Dusk till Dawn: The Series. David Iacono, Luna Blaise and Audrina Miranda will play Reuben's family and Philippine Velge, Ed Skrein and Bechir Sylvain will make up the rest of Zora's team. A combination of well-known stars and fresh faces is yet another exciting element added to the movie. The skill and experience of all those involved will undoubtedly be the recipe for a gripping next installment.

The Director Was Revealed in February

Everything We Know About Jurassic World Rebirth (6)

The previous directors of the two trilogies are Spielberg (Jurassic Park, The Lost World: Jurassic Park,) Joe Johnston (Jurassic Park III,) Colin Trevorrow (Jurassic World, Jurassic World Dominion) and J.A. Bayona (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.) This time around, Gareth Edwards is sitting in the director's chair. Originally, David Leitch was set to take the helm of Jurassic World Rebirth, but it never came to fruition, thus Edwards landed the job. His catalog of work highlights his abilities and range of experience that will definitely lend a helping hand. Edwards has various credits for acting and producing, but his directing talents on films can be seen in Monsters, Godzilla, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and The Creator. With longstanding connections to the franchise, Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley will be producing the movie, and Spielberg will be the executive producer. Overall, an exciting mix of new creators and those who are well-versed in the franchise should bring the film that every fan is banking on, lined with action, adventure, gripping script, and, of course, thrilling dinosaur scenes.

Spielberg will be the executive producer.

A new era is upon Jurassic Park audiences, who have to wait for the film's release in July of next year.
