The City of Largo has been actively working to assist residents with post-Hurricane Helene clean up. Because of the volume of storm debris, Largo has activated a contract through Pinellas County for a private contractor to pick up debris in neighborhoods. Residents should be patient as these additional services are mobilized.

The City of Largo experienced an extraordinary amount of rainfall in August, leading to localized flooding in several neighborhoods at levels not seen in many years. The City has consistently invested in maintaining and improving its stormwater infrastructure, and there have been no unusual disruptions in the system that have contributed to the recent flood events. City crews have followed regular maintenance schedules and implemented pre- and post-storm action plans to keep ditches and drains clear of obstructions. Residents are encouraged to continue reporting flooding to Largo.com/ServiceRequest. While there are no quick fixes, the city remains diligent in responding to calls and investigating long-term options to mitigate the impact of future flooding and storm events.

Elected officials and staff members from Pinellas County Government, Pinellas County Schools and the City of Largo broke ground on High Point Community Park on Sept. 3 at the former site of the old High Point Elementary in unincorporated Pinellas County. The event was the culmination of years of collaboration between county and municipal partners.

Mayor Woody Brown and City Manager Henry Schubert welcomed guests and talked about Horizon as a true investment in a Downtown vision.
