I purchased a Musical Fidelity - Roundtable Turntable from Music Direct. It was on sale from $1000 to $399.
I thought I would roll the dice.I saw no reviews. It could be a hunk of dung for all I know.It comes with a Audio Technica 95E.Will remove this and install a broken in Clearaudio Meastro V2 for demo. The tonearm is listed as 14 grams and it should be a great match compliance wise for the maestro. Here is a picure attached. Will post results next week when I get it if anyone is interested.

Cool!! Musical Fidelity makes a lot of high-value gear, so definitely looking forward to reading your impressions.

60% off is usually a good deal. Hope it sounds as good as it looks.

Wow...I can't believe such a huge price drop. I owned and have owned Musical Fidelity products and have always been very happy with them. I wonder if they have any left!.....I just checked and apparently they do...however on their website the price is $499, not $399....still a great price.

I see these price drops at Music Direct all the time (I receive their catalogs, bought something there once). It makes you wonder what the real value of the "regular priced" items is...

The typical high-end price structure is that the retailer pays 60% of the retail price. In the case of Musical Fidelity, they don't have a third-party distributor, so they handle the importing and customs, lowering the final price somewhat.

The retailer is supposed to use the margin to maintain their business and provide service to customers, as well as making some money. If they have something that they can't sell, they can offer 40% off and break even. They couldn't do that with everything, of course, because they need money to meet their expenses.

Makes sense. For those on a budget, it's probably best to always wait for those price drops... or just buy vintage Musical Fidelity - Roundtable Turntable (9)

I'm curious. I'm looking forward to your review. So, what will you be comparing it with?

Amazon sells that table as well, and there is one not so great review. the reviewer says it's a rebranded Pro-Ject table, but I don't see any actual proof of that.

Musical Fidelity's website links to a review from HiFi Choice Magazine that makes a similar claim: made by Pro-Ject to Musical Fidelity's specs. The author of the article goes on to give the table a positive review.

That said, I don't know how much stock I'd put in a review linked to on a product page. Seems like there might be some type of compensationally induced bias...

Yes, it's now $499 but my price was a one day deal at $399 and free shipping.

I saw that review as well and it's only one.Not a large enough sample size.We will see what happens when I put on a Clearaudio Maestro to a Gram Slee Relex M Phono Preamp. If it's a turd I will let you know.

Amazon had this listed for $699 just three days ago and dropped it.

Oh absolutely! And to be honest, the reviewer had a clear agenda, they hate Project tables. Also seemed to be misinformed on Project tables as well.

Well Scotty, you've had nearly five months to audition this table.....is it a turd, or not?Musical Fidelity - Roundtable Turntable (15) I'm curious, as have only just found out they exist. PS: It's $399 with free shipping again at Music Direct at the moment.

That's a nice looking machine. It does appear to be a Pro-Ject OEM or a clone. That's not a bad thing in my book for I own a Pro-Ject and am very happy with its performance.

I don't know that I'd even buy this turntable. Any turntable old enough to be listened to by King Arthur and his 12 knights is certain to have some problems by now.
