I'm really getting bored of traffic jams at junctions so I decided to solve this problem with a roundabouts...
Here is the first working version...
Comments and suggestions are welcome!

Looks great! Will you also pulish a version with german signs, because in germany, we don't have these yellow-black signs as far as I know
- 12. Januar 2017
That could really solve traffic jams. If you build bigger roundabouts an optional straight tram route through the middle could also give public transport an advantage.
- 12. Januar 2017
wtf?
Looks absolutely great and couldn't imagine that this is possible in TPF...
The only thing I'm asking myself is, if this really solves traffic jam, or not even producing more...
If I have a look right now on the traffic in TPF, it looks like they use "every free mm" to cross the street... so let's seeWhat would really help, if it would be possible to get rid of the pedestrain-crossing, and put them "under the earth", but I think this won't work as TPF is creating by default one, if you connect a street to the "object"

straight tram route through the middle
It's not possible on two or three lanes roundabout because tram lane is rightmost lane...
Zitat von ChrisL
if this really solves traffic jam, or not even producing more
There is no left-turn when using roundabout, and left-turns couse most traffic problems...
Zitat von ChrisL
pedestrain-crossing
Pedestrian crossinga on roundabout are part of roundabout itself, so I can move them out, but... it's not necessary because they don't slow down traffic...

Yess! Gorgeous, thanks for this!

Setting up roundabout...
Step 1: found junction for roundabout
Step 2: try roundabout over junction to check how much of streets you have to delete
Step 3: add street chunks to create section for delete
Step 4: delete middle of junction
Step 5: clear temporary added street chunks
Step 6: place roundabout to cleared place (m/n keys for rotation)
Roundabout minimum place is 30 x 30m, street detection for auto-connecting is in 70m radius.

Very nice Danny66! Will you do this also for the 4 and 6 lanes Streets?
- 12. Januar 2017
Zitat von Nando
also for the 4 and 6 lanes Streets
Yes... I plan to do make few different roundabouts - 4 exits with 2, 4, or 6 lanes, but also some combinations like 2 exits with 2 lanes with 2 exits with 4 lanes... or 2 x 2 + 2 x 4; 2 x 4 + 2 x 6... etc...

I'm always impressed how you do stuff no one expects to come to Transport Fever (or Train Fever) - thank you very much for your innovative work
- 12. Januar 2017
it looks great and I hope to see it soon

is the city building houses right to the roundabout, or will there always be "empty-space"?
- 12. Januar 2017
That's a great idea!

is the city building houses right to the roundabout
Yes, building area is to crosswalks (only roundabout itself is object - streets from crosswalks to near-by streets are regular streets).

About the tram tracks, I'm probably talking ****. But wouldnt it be possible to make the inner and outer lanes cross and then send the new inner lanes (the former outer lanes) through the middle. That might work, if that's how the game does stuff. It's a custom object and not a road, so that would mean you could do it like a station. I'm probably just giving everybody false hopes.
- 12. Januar 2017
There are two issues:
- you won't have any positive affects out of this, as the lines have to cross, you will generate traffic jams
- as I know, you can still not build "tram-only-tracks" (or did that now change in TPF), so also cars will use the direct "go through", in minimum them which are driving anyway on the bus-linesthe only solution for that is an "underground-roundabout", where the normal lines are going underground in a roundabout, and for the bus lines you have a "dedicated-crossing" on ground level. But also here, cars which are anyway on bus lines will also use the ground level...

In stations you can define a vehicle type to a lane. For example in @laedis two level station tram and bus are divided. The bus lanes on normal streets don´t work absolutely, because the the lane is calculated only as a not so good way for cars (so cars can drive to a house in a 2lane street with bus lanes).

inner and outer lanes cross
Yes, it is possible to make it in this way.

True. So, I can make tram only or bus only, or cars only lane(s).

You should do something like that .
I hope, the roundabouts help my monster traffic-Jams
